The Tabora Mantse, Nii Klortia Ayikwei Tutu Alanmle I, has announced a series of activities for this year’s Homowo celebration, expressing confidence that the festival will promote peace, unity, cultural preservation, and socio-economic development in Tabora and its surrounding communities.

Speaking in an interview with the Herald Newspaper on the sidelines of the launch of the 2026 Asere Homowo in Accra, the chief, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Mikesh Global Business Ltd., said the celebration had been carefully designed to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Ga-Dangme people while empowering the youth and improving community welfare.

According to him, the festivities will begin on Saturday, July 25, with a Dreadlocks and Afro Hair Walk, an event intended to celebrate African identity, culture, and natural beauty.

He disclosed that the same day would also witness the official opening of the new Mikesh Global Business Ltd. office at Chantan in the Ga West Municipality
in Accra.

Nii Klortia Ayikwei Tutu Alanmle I, said sports would also feature prominently in this year’s celebrations, with a Super Cup Football Gala scheduled for August 1 2026, to bring together young people from Tabora and neighbouring communities to compete in an atmosphere of friendship, discipline, and unity.

The Tabora Mantse further revealed that the festival would include several social intervention programmes aimed at improving the welfare of vulnerable members of the community.

He announced that about 150 widows in Tabora and its surrounding communities would receive assorted items to support their livelihoods.

Additionally, women at the Chantan Market will benefit from a free hairdressing exercise sponsored by Mikesh Global Business Ltd. as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Nii Klortia Ayikwei Tutu Alanmle I, said the 2026 Homowo celebration would climax on Saturday, August 29, with the traditional sprinkling of Kpokpoi, the sacred maize meal prepared for the festival, on the principal streets and in homes across Tabora and nearby communities.

He explained that the customary rite would be accompanied by prayers for peace, prosperity, abundant harvests, and the continued progress of the community.

The chief appealed to residents, indigenes, and visitors to participate fully in all the planned activities, stressing that preserving the Homowo tradition was essential to safeguarding the cultural identity of the Ga-Dangme people.

He noted that the festival also provides an opportunity to deepen communal harmony, promote peaceful coexistence, and accelerate the socio-economic development of Tabora and neighbouring communities.
