Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang on Wednesday joined His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, at the Presidency to receive a high-powered delegation from the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, led by its President, Nana Barima Twereku Ampem III, Omanhene of the Ntotroso Traditional Area.

The delegation, which was accompanied by the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Charity Gardiner, was formally welcomed by the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Mahama Ayariga.

The engagement, which underscored Government’s unflinching commitment to deepening collaboration with traditional authorities, provided a platform for fruitful deliberations on development, governance and national cohesion.

President Mahama, in his remarks, shared significant progress made by Government across various sectors and outlined the ambitious work ahead, including deliberate efforts to accelerate infrastructure development through the transformative Big Push programme.

“The Big Push is not just about roads and buildings; it is about laying a solid foundation for inclusive growth, bridging the development gap, and bringing prosperity to every corner of Ghana, including Ahafo,” President Mahama stated.

The delegation, on its part, acknowledged Government’s far-reaching interventions in the region and commended its cordial and respectful relationship with Nananom and local authorities.

Speaking on behalf of the Presidency, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang expressed profound gratitude to Nananom for their continued partnership and unwavering confidence in the administration.

“We thanked the chiefs for their continued partnership and confidence in us, and specifically acknowledged the Queen Mothers for the indispensable role they play in nurturing their communities and safeguarding our heritage,” she affirmed.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang further thanked Nananom for their thoughtful gifts, describing them as a symbol of goodwill and mutual respect.

“We are deeply touched by your thoughtful gifts. They signify the enduring bond between Government and our revered traditional institutions,” she added.

She reaffirmed Government’s resolve to strengthen its partnership with the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs for the benefit of the people of Ahafo and the nation at large.

“We look forward to strengthening our partnership for the benefit of the people of Ahafo and Ghana. Together, we will build a prosperous and inclusive future,” the Vice President intimated.
