The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has arrived in Accra to present a compendious report on the Bawku peace mediation process to President John Dramani Mahama, as part of assiduous efforts to reinstate enduring stability in the region.

The scheduled meeting is set to unfold at the Jubilee House today, December 16, amidst fervent anticipation.

Earlier in 2025, President Mahama entrusted the Asantehene with the onerous task of spearheading mediation efforts to ameliorate the protracted chieftaincy dispute that has beset the Bawku municipality for several decades. The mediation process, which commenced in April, entailed separate engagements with leaders and representatives of the opposing factions, aimed at fostering a rapprochement and rebuilding confidence.

Following a brief hiatus, talks resumed in May 2025, contributing to a significant détente and ushering in a welcome respite in the area.

The presentation of the report underscores the Asantehene’s unyielding commitment to resolving the conflict and promoting peace in the region, exemplifying his stature as a revered custodian of peace and stability.
