The Government of Ghana has released an amount of ₵130 million to facilitate the completion of the La General Hospital, a major health facility serving the people of La and surrounding communities in the Greater Accra Region.
The hospital, which was fully operational before being demolished for redevelopment, has remained incomplete for several years, leaving residents without access to the essential healthcare services it once provided.
According to reports, during the past eight years under the former NPP administration, little to no progress was made on the reconstruction project, despite repeated appeals from the chiefs and people of La.
The release of the funds by the current government has, therefore, been met with relief and renewed hope among residents who have long expressed frustration over the delay. Many believe the completion of the facility will help ease pressure on other health institutions within the Accra metropolis and restore quality healthcare delivery in the area.
The Ministry of Health has assured the public that work will resume immediately to ensure the hospital is completed within schedule, equipped with modern facilities, and reopened to serve the public.
The La General Hospital, when completed, is expected to provide specialised healthcare services, including maternity, emergency, and surgical care, while creating more employment opportunities within the health sector.
