GRA Commences Investigation Into TAAG Allegation of Bribery

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has launched an investigation into an allegation made by the Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAAG).

GRA has assured the general public of getting to the bottom of such matters with all the seriousness it deserves.

In a statement issued in Accra on Thursday 27th November, 2025, says “GRA wishes to inform the stakeholders, especially traders and importers that it takes allegations seriously and has commenced an internal investigation into the matter to ascertain the fact”.

The Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAAG), an umbrella body of traders in Ghana, has raised concerns over what it described as widespread extortion by members of Ghana Customs Division Task Force under the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) operating in the Ashanti Region.

The group called on government to investigate into the alleged activities, warning that the situation threatens to erode trust in state institutions and undermine the country’s business environment.

According to TAAG, funds allegedly collected from importers under the guise of revaluation assessments are being siphoned back to Accra, creating perverse incentives for senior officers into an extortion force.

The statement has called for calm as investigation.
