President John Dramani Mahama has departed Accra for New York to participate in the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80), where he will combine diplomacy with a historic business engagement.
As part of his official itinerary, President Mahama will ring the closing bell at NASDAQ, one of the world’s leading stock exchanges. The symbolic event underscores Ghana’s ambition to strengthen its global economic profile and attract more foreign investment.
While in New York, the President will deliver Ghana’s address to the General Assembly on Thursday, September 25, 2025. In his role as the African Union’s Champion for Financial Institutions, he will also host two major side events on Africa’s economic transformation.
His agenda further includes high-level bilateral meetings with the UN Secretary-General, world leaders and business executives, as well as an engagement with the US-Africa Chamber of Commerce to promote trade and investment opportunities in Ghana.
First Lady Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama is accompanying the President and will play a prominent role in events focused on humanitarian and development issues. She will join the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) programmes and deliver the keynote address at a special World Vision International prayer service dedicated to children worldwide.
The President’s delegation features senior government officials including Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister for Health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister for Trade Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare as well as other key aides and advisors.
President Mahama and his team are expected back in Ghana on September 30, 2025.
