As part of this year’s International Women’s Day Celebration, Foundation For Society Development in Africa (FOSDA) has celebrated women across Zango communities in the country.

Zango men were charged to make their women part of the family decision making.

The former vice chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Hajia Hamdatu Ibrahim Haruna advised parents not to impose career decision on their children.

She made the statement at this year’s International women’s day celebration held at Nima in the Ayawaso East Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

“Allow your children to make choices base on counselling”, she stressed.

She maintained that women are more capable in handling positions when opportunities are given to them.

For her, successive governments have failed in passing the Affirmative Action Bill placed before parliament.

Adding, she said that governments have deliberately put women in an handicaped position in order not to pass the bill.

She called on the men to support their spouses in their endeavours.

On her part, Madam Theodora W. Antie, Acting Executive Director of FOSDA commended women across Africa for their dedication and hard working toward the development of the continent.

According to her, FOSDA would continue to champion the course of women and give them the necessary assistance and tools to compete with their male counterparts.

“We have supported women during elections in the Northern Region and other places; we will continue to do that and make sure our women achieve their aims and objectives”, Antie emphasised.
