Oblieman Homowo Rocks Ga West Municipality With Jamboree

Oblieman, a suburb of Ga West Municipality in the Greater Accra Region has taken an international dimensions in this year’s homowo festival.

Dignitaries from the United States of America (USA) who graced the occasion, saw for the first time the beautiful display of rich African culture.

As part of the celebration, boxing tournament was fixed to unearth talents within Oblieman and its environ.

The sprinkling of kpokpoi, which is the traditional way of feeding the gods annually to apeas and seek for protection and prosperity in the years ahead, was done in a grand style amidst ban and drumming.

King Oyanka I was flanked by his commanding wariors asafoakeme ke nyeme during the springkling of kpokpoi.

The Oblieman overlord, Nii Ayitey Anumle Oyanka I, took to various areas and corners of the community to sprinkle the kpekple.

Speaking on the theme: Promoting Royal Traditional Council for Infrastructure Development & Environmental Sustainability, the overlord emphasised on the need to rededicate this year’s celebration for the promotion of youth empowerment and education.

He said empowering the youth with requisite knowledge and expertise would go a long way in liberating the lots from the status of poverty to prosperity.

He indicated that the theme for this year’s celebration was carefully selected to mitigate the challenges facing the Ga state.

For him, the time has come for traditional leaders to take up the responsibility of ensuring the total redevelopment of the human resource and and good environmental practices.
