It Is Safer To Use The Presidential Jet Than Private Jets-MP To Nana Addo

The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC’s)  Member of Parliament (MP) for South Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region has reminded president Nana Addo that the presidential jet bought in 2010 is safer than the luxurious chartered jets he has been globe-trotting with.

He said even though the presidential jet may not have some luxury features contained in the hired jets, it is safer in terms of his personal security.

Mr. Samual Okudjeto-Ablakwa, who is also the Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament made this revelation speaking in an interview on Accra-based Neat FM.

According to him, the use of Ghana’s presidential jet is much safer than the chartered private jets the president has been traveling across the world with.

He said Ghana’s jet is a seventeen-seater jet which is manned by some known Ghanaian squadrons, unlike the private jets which are manned by foreigners who the president knows nothing about.

The private jets come with their own crew members and squadrons, who may possibly record some of the activities of the president, he said.

Ghana’s presidential jet has a life span of twenty years and had done only eleven years, he revealed.

He further questioned why the president had refused to use the jet when it is not that old.

If the president feels he does not need the presidential jet, he should sell it and use the cash for vaccines for Ghanaians, he added.

This was a presidential jet bought by former president John Agyekum Kufour, used by the late president Prof. John Evans Atta-Mills, former president John Dramani Mahama.

The government of France bought its presidential jet in 2010 and the current president Macron is still using it to travel, he stressed.

He explained that the president is not seeing all these because he is blinded by the lavish lifestyle he wants to live as president adding that this is worrying.

The use of Ghana’s presidential jet is a cause for worry because it’s being used for private parties among others instead of official duties, he said.
