Youth Trained In Peace Building And Community Development
Youth selected from five communities in the Greater Accra Region received training on peacebuilding and community development.
The project organized by ROAJELF-GHANA, trained about 25 youth members to become ambassadors to their communities.
The Non Governmental Organization launched the project in Accra to mark its the International Youth Day celebrations.
Addressing participants, the leader of the selected youth groups, Mr. Umar Adamu entreated them to preach peace in their respective communities.
He said as peace ambassadors, there is a need to ensure peaceful co-existence among the people irrespective of one’s background or religious and political affiliations.
On his part, a law student at the University of Ghana, Mr. Haruna Rashid Mohammed urged the youth to be law abiding.
According to him, the youth have the responsibility to ensure the laws of the land are enforced.
This he said, can be achieved by helping the law enforcement agencies in discharging their duties.
Mr. Hector Wuff, a customer service expect who spoke on the business point of view, encouraged the youth to engage in entrepreneurship training programs in other to become self sufficient and create more jobs in their communities.
Advising the youth on the need to champion youth development and peacebuilding in their communities, the assembly man for Adabraka North Electoral area, Mr. Abdul- Mumuni charged them to ensure peace and peaceful coexistence wherever they find themselves.
Communities participated in the training includes Nima, Kanda, Adabraka and Accra Newtown.
