Ex-Convict In Maasive Extortion at Sogakope

An ex-convict, Freeman Laweh Sogah was reported to have been subjecting the residence of Sogakope in the Sough Tongu District of the Volta Region to inhumane activities.

According to our source in the District, the self-styled chief who was ones jailed for stealing 7 piece of tilapia, tried to prevent people from burying their corpse at the Sogakope cemetery as he demands money from the deceased family by forcing.

At a point, he threatened to exhume bodies from the grave yard of those whose family could not pay to him but paid to the appropriate authority.

Our information further indicated that the Laweh Sogah actions do go down well with the residents and who are calling for positive defiance to stop the fake chief from his nefarious activities.

The residents are suspecting the Sogakope District Police Commander, DSP Awua-Hene Acheampong team-up with the chief tilapia thieve to harass the family of the deceased.

They also accused DSP Awua-Hene of giving protection to the ex-convict even after Volta Regional House of Chiefs warned and placed injunction on him (Laweh Sogah) to stop carrying himself as a chief.

It appears the injunction and warning from the Regional House Chiefs fell on death ears as the so-called chief kept parading himself as chief of Sogakope.

Some residents who complained to thealhajj.com revealed several attempts by the “fake” chief to sell their lands to another persons but failed.

Residents are calling for his swift arrest and immediate transfer of the District Police Commander from the District.
