Bongo youth fight over attempt to sell their football park

The youths in the Bongo District in the Upper East Region are up with arms over an attempt by their leaders to sell the only football park in the District to a private investor.
The District football park was constructed by the Catholic Church in the early 90s and handed over to the District office of the Ghana Education Service (GES) under a strict supervision of the Bongo District Assembly.
The football park became an official ground where national events such as the 6th March parade, farmers day activities and others are held.
The park has also been serving the Bongo SHS and other great football clubs like Maestros FC and Hassan FC.
These football Clubs use the only park as their home ground for their matches and training activities.
As part of his efforts to nurture talent and give facelift to the park, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon Edward Abambila Bawa donated fifty thousand Ghana cedis ( GHc 50,000 ) towards the reconstruction and upgrading of the park.
The money according to the veteran musician, Rap Naaba, has gone into wrong pockets of some corrupt committee members denying the park of any development.
Meetings were held between the youth and political heads to pave ways for the developer to start work but apparently ended with no concrete solution.
Bongo youth have threatened to embark on series of demonstrations to demand for the reconstruction of the park.
Rap Naaba has laid blame on the political heads describing them as ‘vultures’ who feed on the carcas of the people.
He prayed and ask for God’s guidance for the Paramount Chief of Bongo, Hon. Peter Ayinbisa, and the MP for the area Hon. Edward Abambire Bawa.
