New IGP Will Succeed Without Political Interference – King Oyanka I

Nii Ayittey Anumley Oyanka I, chief of Oblieman in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region has waded into the much talk-about of the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Dr. George Akuffo- Dampare as acting IGP.
According to the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Chief Executive Officer, the acting IGP stands to achieve and succeed in his new office.
He said this can only be done when there is no political interference in the discharge of his duties as Professional Chief Police officer.
Nii Ayittey Oyanka I, made this in an interview with thealhajj.com at his palace in Accra on Saturday 23th July, 2021.
For him, COP Dr. Dampare has a proven track record of a firm, courageous and professional Police officers over the years.
He noted that the appointment of COP Dampare was timely and came at the time the police service facing credibility issues.
“You will note that quite recently, the police and the citizens are having frost relationship, people turn not to trust the police anymore”, Nii Oyanka opined.
Nii Oblieman further indicated that politicians may try to frustrate him, when discharging his professional duties and that could be a worrying issue.
This he said, such interference should not derailed him (COP) but should look focus and stamp his authorities for the betterment of Ghana instead.
Nii Ayitey Oyanka I, stated that “COP Dr. Akuffo-Dampare’s background in the Police Service for some decades now, you could also see he has occupied very high-level and important positions across the Police Service and in all those positions he has delivered”.
He advised the new IGP, COP Dr. Dampare to leave an indelible mark as IGP, as he used to do where ever he found himself.
Adding that Ghanaians have high hope in his appointment and believe that he would not disappoint the general populace and will restore the lost image of the police service.
