A scorching controversy has engulfed Electoral Commission as Joseph Blankson Adumadzie, a staff member, has formally petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to initiate the removal of Chairperson Jean Mensa and her deputies, Dr. Bossman Eric Asare and Samuel Tettey, citing egregious misconduct that imperils the very fabric of the country’s electoral system.

The petition, meticulously crafted and submitted in accordance with Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution, enumerates a damning 12 counts of alleged malfeasance, including nepotism, abuse of authority, and gross incompetence.

Adumadzie asserts that the actions of these senior officials have precipitated a crisis of confidence in the EC, threatening to undermine the integrity and independence of Ghana’s electoral process.

In a stern statement, Adumadzie underscored that his actions are driven by an Inflexible commitment to upholding the Constitution and fortifying accountable governance, emphasizing the imperative to safeguard the dignity of the Electoral Commission, a cornerstone of Ghana’s democratic edifice.

He has called upon President Mahama to discharge his constitutional duty by referring the petition to the Chief Justice for a prima facie case determination, as stipulated in Article 146 procedures.
