Dr. Martin Kolbil Yamborigya has been appointed by President John Dramani Mahama as the acting Commissioner of the Domestic Tax Revenue Division (DTRD) of the Ghana Revenue Authority, effective Monday, November 17, 2025.
His appointment follows the retirement of Edward Apenteng Gyambrah.
In a statement from the GRA dated November 13, they said Dr. Yamborigya is a distinguished tax administrator and public finance expert with more than two decades of experience in Ghana’s revenue system.
“The appointment of Dr. Yamborigya is expected to foster renewed energy in enhancing tax compliance, utilizing digital solutions, and strengthening collaboration with stakeholders to drive Ghana’s domestic revenue mobilization efforts forward,” it stated.
The statement went on to note his leadership in domestic tax policy, compliance management and revenue mobilization, and has been instrumental in the modernization of the Authority.
Before this appointment, he served in several senior roles within the GRA, including Audit Team Leader for the Tax Audit Unit, Head of Audit at the Legon Medium Taxpayer Office, Head of Post Clearance Audit, and Head of Audit for Special Audits (Audit Factory). He also previously worked as Acting Assistant Commissioner at the DTRD Secretariat.
Dr. Yamborigya later became Assistant Commissioner and Head of Tax Audit at the Large Taxpayer Office, where he led reforms aimed at improving tax compliance, expanding the tax base and advancing modernization efforts across domestic tax operations.
His work earned him broad respect within the Authority and the wider tax administration community.
Management and staff of the GRA also congratulated Dr. Yamborigya and expressed confidence in his ability to steer the Division effectively in his new capacity.
