Security Services Recruitment Postponed to November 17 Following El Wak Tragedy

The Ghanaian Ministry of the Interior has announced a postponement of the nationwide security services recruitment exercise, rescheduling the commencement date from Saturday, November 15, to Monday, November 17, 2025.

This decision, communicated by Minister Muntaka Mubarak, is a respectful gesture of solidarity to the victims of the tragic incident at El Wak Sports Stadium during the military recruitment process.

The Minister conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and assured the country that the exercise will recommence on the revised date, with a comprehensive schedule disseminated through national newspapers, official social media platforms, and relevant government agencies.

Applicants can procure vouchers from GCB branches across the country or utilize a convenient USSD code from the comfort of their homes.

The Ministry has implemented a cutting-edge, centralized e-recruitment portal, designed to harmonize and standardize the recruitment process across various security agencies, ensuring a more efficient and transparent selection process.

The El Wak incident has left a somber mark, with 28 applicants affected, 12 of whom remain in critical condition, five receiving intensive care, and six fatalities. A separate incident in Kumasi resulted in five injuries. The Ministry has pledged to introduce enhanced safety measures to mitigate future risks, as investigations into the tragedy continue.
