The Attorney General and Minister for Justice has unveiled shocking details of what he described as a “criminal enterprise” that operated within the National Food and Buffer Stock Company Limited (NAFCO) under the leadership of its former Chief Executive Officer, Hanan Abdul-Wahab.
Addressing a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, the Attorney General revealed that investigations by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) have exposed a large-scale money laundering and theft scheme involving NAFCO’s top officials and their accomplices.
According to him, between 2017 and 2024, the former CEO, his wife Faiza Seidu Wuni, and a network of officials used several companies – including Alqarni Enterprise, Aludiba Enterprise, Fa-Hausa Ventures and Energy Partners Ltd – to siphon over GHS78 million from the state agency’s accounts.
Evidence shows that the funds were transferred through fake supplier payments and later laundered through luxury property purchases across Accra and Tamale.
Mr. Abdul-Wahab, his wife, and their collaborators have been charged with stealing, conspiracy to steal, causing financial loss to the state, using public office for profit and money laundering. The charges are expected to be filed on Friday, October 24, 2025.
The Attorney General said the discovery highlights “jungle-like lawlessness” where funds meant for school feeding and food suppliers were brazenly diverted into private accounts.
