Keta, Volta Region — The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the construction of the Keta Port, promising that the project will create jobs and boost the local economy.

He made the pledge during his Thank You Tour in the Keta Constituency, where he met party executives and supporters at Dzelukope as part of his Volta Regional engagements.

During the meeting, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Keta, Hon. Wisdom Bonbiru Seade, appealed for expedited employment processes for party supporters, noting that delays were putting pressure on local party leadership. He also urged government to revive stalled GETFund projects, which he said would help create jobs and improve livelihoods in the area.

Responding to the concerns, Hon. Asiedu Nketiah urged party members to remain patient and committed, emphasizing the importance of principled leadership.

“If you want to do what is always done, you won’t make history — do what is right,” he said.

He commended the party’s strategy of distributing paraphernalia directly to branch levels, describing it as one of the key measures that contributed to the NDC’s 2024 electoral victory.

Encouraging party supporters to stay hopeful, the NDC Chairman said,

“Don’t lose hope. Put in your best even if you didn’t get what you wanted. The longer we stay in power, the greater your chances of receiving what you deserve.”

Addressing issues surrounding security service recruitment, Hon. Asiedu Nketiah called for fairness and balance in the process to maintain national stability.

As Chairman of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), he assured the people of Keta that he would personally push for the Keta Port’s development, promising to return for comprehensive stakeholder consultations on the project.
