Chief Justice Removal: Presidential Committee to Hold Public Hearings Tomorrow

A presidential committee is set to commence public hearings on petitions filed against the Chief Justice, following the submission of three separate petitions calling for an inquiry into their conduct.
The five-member committee, chaired by Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang of the Supreme Court, was established in accordance with Article 146(6) of the 1992 Constitution after President John Dramani Mahama, in consultation with the Council of State, determined that a prima facie case had been established.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, minister in charge of Government Communication emphasized the government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring due process is followed in all matters concerning the judiciary.
“The government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring due process is followed in all matters concerning the judiciary,” he stated.
The committee will convene three times a week to carry out its mandate and present its findings and recommendations directly to the President upon concluding its work. This thorough investigation aims to ensure transparency and accountability within the judiciary, and the public eagerly awaits the outcome.
