Adwumawura Fully Funded, A Departure from Akufo-Addo’s ‘Mirage’ Initiatives

President John Dramani Mahama has provided a guarantee that the Adwumawura Programme is fully funded, setting it apart from previous initiatives under Akufo Addo that failed to materialize due to lack of sustainable funding.

At the programme’s official launch, President Mahama described Adwumawura as an ambitious yet necessary endeavour for the country’s development.

“This is an ambitious undertaking, but it’s necessary if we’re to secure a prosperous and resilient future for the youth of Ghana,” Mahama stated.

He emphasized that Adwumawura would not follow the path of previous initiatives that were announced with great fanfare but ultimately lacked the necessary funding to sustain them.

“Let me point out that this programme is not like others that were announced in the recent past, with a lot of fanfare, but proved to be mirages without adequate funding to sustain them,” Mahama said.

“Adwumawura is fully funded, with adequate allocation provided by the Ministry of Finance in the 2025 budget.”

The President further explained that Adwumawura is designed to be inclusive, youth-led, and Ghanaian-owned, highlighting the importance of empowering young entrepreneurs.

“Many big businesses of today were the start-ups and micro enterprises of yesterday. Adwumawura is designed to be inclusive, youth-led, and Ghanaian-owned. And so, you must be a Ghanaian to be part of Adwumawura.”

With this assurance, President Mahama aims to instill confidence in the Adwumawura Programme, which promises to provide critical support to young entrepreneurs and contribute to Ghana’s economic development.
