President Mahama Embarks on ‘Good Neighbourliness’ Tour, Strengthens Ties with Mali

President John Dramani Mahama embarked on a day’s working visit to Bamako, Mali, on Saturday, March 8, as part of his ‘good neighbourliness’ tour to countries in the sub-region. This phase of the tour will also take him to Niger and Burkina Faso, countries that have recently parted ways with the ECOWAS grouping to form their Alliance of Sahel states.
Upon his arrival at the Modiba Keita Airport, President Mahama was warmly received by the Transitional President, General Goita. The two leaders subsequently held a closed-door meeting at the presidential palace, where they engaged in discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and promoting regional cooperation.
President Mahama’s ‘good neighbourliness’ tour is a testament to his commitment to fostering positive relationships with neighbouring countries. Ultimately , by engaging with leaders from Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, he aims to promote peace, stability, and economic development in the sub-region.
