Mahama Not Liable for Discontinued Cases -Dr Ayine

Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has vehemently defended President John Dramani Mahama against allegations that he is complicit in the discontinuation of high-profile cases, earning him the moniker “clearing agent.”

Dr. Ayine contended that President Mahama cannot be described as a clearing agent, as he has not been involved in any of the cases that have been discontinued. “H.E John Dramani Mahama cannot be labeled as a clearing agent because, as I said in my statement, he is not been involved in any decision. I have not briefed him on any of these decisions,” Dr. Ayine explained.

Addressing the media, Dr. Ayine emphasized that he takes full responsibility for his decisions to discontinue the cases. “Until then, H.E remains innocent and stands fair away from the decision that I have taken, and I have told you that I have taken absolute responsibility for all the decisions as the Attorney-General.It is my responsibility as the Attorney-General; if there is any fault in the decision I have taken, I am taking responsibility today, and I will take responsibility in the future.”

The Attorney General’s defense comes on the heels of his decision to discontinue cases against several high-profile individuals, including former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of COCOBOD, Dr. Stephen Opuni Frimpong, Businessman Seidu Agongo, and Agricult Ghana Limited. Other cases that have been dropped include those against former Minister of Water Resources, Works, and Housing, Alhaji Collins Dauda, and four others, as well as former Director-General of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Dr. Ernest Thompson.
