Ghana to Host Major African Economic Conference with Global Leaders

Ghana is set to host over 3,000 delegates from 46 countries, including seven African Heads of State, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) from January 30 to February 1.

This announcement was made by Rui Pedro Afonso Livramento, Chief of Staff at the AfCFTA Secretariat, during a press conference.

He emphasized the crucial role of infrastructure in achieving economic integration across Africa.

Livramento highlighted that the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) has made significant progress since its establishment, including a robust institutional framework and increased trade through the Guided Trade Initiative.

However, he pointed out that infrastructure remains a significant challenge.

The event will kick off on Day One (January 30) with the opening of the ProJet Afrique Exhibition and various official side events, culminating in a Welcome Reception at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, Accra.

Day Two (January 31) will delve into key topics such as sustainable energy, digital infrastructure, manufacturing, STEM education, healthcare, and urban development.

The final day (February 1) will feature a High-Level Dialogue between Heads of State and business leaders, concluding with a Presidential Roundtable focused on private-sector involvement in infrastructure development.

Additionally, there will be fireside chats discussing BADEA’s US$50 billion Investment Fund.

The Dialogues on Prosperity in Africa will serve as a vital platform for political leaders and economists from across the continent to share insights and develop strategies aimed at achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs) and enhancing economic integration among African nations. Stay tuned for more updates.
