Council of State Chair, Tsatsu Tsikata To Grace Mills’ 10th Anniversary Commemorative Lectures

Nana Otuo Siriboe II, Omanhene of Juaben Traditional Area who doubles as the Chairman of the Council of State, and lawyer and former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Company, Tsatsu Tsikata, are billed to lead commorative lectures later this week.

The Greater Accra regional commemorative lecture and that of other regional lectures throughout country, were clustered into five groups organised by the John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage.

At a press conference to brief the media on the preparation towards the event, the Board Chairman of the John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage, Dr. Alex Segbefia, revealed to the general public on the lineup of activities to commemorate the 10th-anniversary celebration of the demise of President John Evans Atta Mills.

According to him, the highlight of the 10th-anniversary commemoration will be the 10th-anniversary commemorative lecture will be chaired by Nana Otuo Siriboe II, Omanhene of Juaben Traditional Area, and the Chairman of the Council of State while the celebrated lawyer of all time, Tsatsu Tsikata dilivers the key note address.

He reiterated that the lecture would start at 2:00 pm and will be held at the International Conference Centre in Accra with outstanding personalities.

Dr. Segbefia stated that the President Evans Atta Mills regional memorial lectures have begun in earnest throughout Ghana adding that the Northern sector regional lectures comprising the five regions in Northern Ghana including; Northern, Savannah, Upper West, Upper East, and North-East regions successfully held.

He also announced that on June 24, 2022, the second series of regional lectures was held for the Western and Central regions at the University of Cape Coast.

Dr. Segbefia also highlighted the scheduled activities to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the demise of President John Evans Atta Mills.

Some of the scheduled activities include; on July 21, 2022, a statement will be delivered on the floor of Parliament by the Minority caucus to commemorate the 10th anniversary and the will be read by his brother Samuel Atta Mills, Member of Parliament for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrim Constituency.

The John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Memorial Heritage will also pay a courtesy call to the Chief Imam, Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu on July 21, 2022.

Dr. Segbefia said on Friday 22nd July 2022, at 1:00 pm, Muslim prayers will be held in remembrance of late President Mills at designated Mosques throughout Ghana including the Central Mosque in Kanda, Al Sunni Mosque at Nima, Ahmadiyya Mosque at Labone, and the Shai Mosque at Accra New Town.

He added that on 23rd July 2022, at 8:30 am, the President John Atta Mills Memorial Hockey Tournament will be held at the Ghana National Hockey Pitch in Accra.

Dr. Segbefia further stated that on 24th July 2022, at 1:00 pm, the 10th-anniversary wreath-laying ceremony and memorial service for the late President will be held at the Asomdwee Park near the Independence Square in Accra.

He stressed that the wreath-laying ceremony is being organised by the National Democratic Congress explaining that although there is another ceremony at the park in the morning urging party faithful and the public to attend the ceremony.

Dr. Segbefia concluded by describing the late President as a beacon of hope for the people he encountered, particularly the youth he dealt with and related with during his leadership roles as a statesman.

The John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage was birthed and duly incorporated on October 14, 2021, after its incorporation, it was launched on February 2022.
