R Kelly jailed 30 years for sexually abusing children, women

Disgraced American RnB singer R. Kelly has been jailed 30 years for sexually abusing women and children.
It would be recalled that Kelly was convicted in September 2021 in New York of racketeering and sex trafficking crimes.
On Wednesday, June 29, 2022, R. Kelly aged 55, was subsequently sentenced to 30 years in prison.
According to the trial judge, Ann Donnelly, R Kelly had an “indifference to human suffering”.
The Judge stated that R Kelly had used sex as a weapon, forcing his victims to do unspeakable things and saddling them with incurable diseases.
She indicated that “You [R Kelly] taught them that love is enslavement and violence.”
R Kelly’s lawyers are expected to file an appeal in the coming days.
Real name Robert Sylvester Kelly, the RnB star had faced years of allegations of sexual abuse.
One woman only identified as Angela described R Kelly as Pied Piper who “grew in wickedness” with every new victim, while others who were not named testified he had broken their spirits.
A number of women had taken the stand to confront R. Kelly ahead of sentencing.
There was no reaction from the singer after the judge made the ruling.
Throughout his trial, the court was told how he lured women and children into sexual abuse over two decades.
R. Kelly is known worldwide for hit songs such as ‘Hotel Room’, ‘Fiesta’, ‘I Believe I Can Fly’.
He has been in prison since July 2019 when he was indicted by federal prosecutors in New York and Chicago
