Zongo Youth Unites Against Security Brutality – The Alhajj

Zongo youth group calling itself “Zongo Democrats” have come out strongly against the selective justice and are pressing home their demand against security brutality across various zongo communities in the country.
At a press conference held in Accra today 15th July, 2021, the founder Sheikh Hussain Sakaria Mohammed described the actions of the security forces as obnoxious agender to suppress zongo youth.
Citing various killings melted out to some zongo youth recently which the perpetrators are still not aprehended, the founder believes that ulterior motive was to set the Zongos ablaze and eliminate as many Muslims as possible.
“Even though many political watchers may attribute to the state sponsored murders to political motives, we of the Zongo Democrats believe that the ulterior motive was to set the Zongos ablaze and eliminate as many Muslims as possible”, he stated.
He said the press conference was to also call on the National Peace Council, the office of the National Chief Imam, the Clergy, the minority and majority caucus of the house, the Muslim Caucus in Parliament and the CSOs should intervene to safeguard the peace of the country.
He said their resolved to use democratic means to press home their demand shows how peaceful the youth of zongos are and urged the youth to desist from using illicit drugs and be law abiding citizens.
Some of the Zongo youth were killed and were not any Justice till date according to Sheikh Zakaria, includes the recent killing of Ibrahim Mohammed aka ” kaaka” and two others namely Abdul Nasir Yusif and Mutala Mohammed in Ejura few months ago.
Others who got killed by same security forces were Alhassan Tajudeen in Techiman South, Abdallah Ayarick also in Techiman South, Samira Zakaria in Savelugu and Ibrahim Abass in Ablekuma Central.
For him, the selective justice of finding killers of innocent Ghanaians leaves one to believe that some are more Ghanaians than the others.
“One week after the police officers got killed in the bullion van robbery, the prime suspect was arrested”, he added.
